Tooth-Colored Fillings
Advances in dental materials have resulted in more durable and attractive fillings. Tooth-colored fillings are made from composite resin—a combination of plastic and silicon dioxide. Dr. Resuta uses this material to fill cavities, replace old amalgams (metal fillings), repair minor fractures, and for cosmetics.
Unlike metal amalgams, only minimal tooth preparation is required to place tooth-colored fillings. This conservative solution allows you to keep more of your natural tooth structure. Tooth-colored fillings also provide added support and insulation, which reduces potential for fractures and sensitivity to hot and cold.
Tooth-colored fillings will also improve the appearance of your smile. Dr. Resuta will blend the composite resin to precisely match your tooth color. He can replace your metal amalgams with tooth-colored fillings or use composite resin to reshape disfigured teeth in a procedure known as bonding.
