Dr. Jacob Truan is able to provide outstanding care for his patients through his passion for dentistry, clinical experience, comprehensive skill set and commitment towards patient care and comfort. Dr. Truan has lived in Atlanta since 2013, but he grew up in Augusta, Georgia. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Georgia in 2005, earning his B.S. in Biology. Dr. Truan received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) from the Medical College of Georgia in 2012. After graduating dental school, he continued his education by completing the General Practice Residency at the Medical College of Georgia.
As a resident, Dr. Truan received advanced training in cosmetic dentistry, implant placement and restoration, surgical extractions, bone grafting, root canal therapy, etc.
Dr. Truan joined SmileATL in 2016 as an associate doctor. He’s thoroughly enjoyed his time at SmileATL and in 2024 he bought into the practice as a co-owner and business partner with Dr. Timothy Resuta. Continuing education is of utmost importance for Dr. Truan. As a member of ITI and CDOCS, Dr. Truan is able to continuously increase his knowledge of new and improving techniques, materials, and applications. He enjoys regularly meeting with his study club to review complex cases, evidence-based research, and best practices.
When not working, Dr. Truan enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 daughters. He met his wife at UGA in 2003 and they have been on an incredible journey ever since. His family regularly attends Passion City Church at 515. Through their church’s various local outreach programs, Dr. Truan is able to give back to Atlanta and his local community. In his spare time, he enjoys running, exercising, and playing golf. But Dr. Truan’s favorite activity is watching both his daughters play soccer! Fall is Dr. Truan’s favorite season because, if they are not on the pitch, he and his family spend many Saturdays in Athens cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs!
